History & Geography

The origin of the term history is Greek. In Latin word historia is a derivative from the Greek ἱστορία (istoría) meaning research. Its root ιδ- is shared by the verb ὁράω (orao), to see, and in a broader sense, to know, to know same as the Latin verb v-id-eo and in the headword idea.

Soon, the term expanded its meaning to encompass research, to indicate later also that kind of knowledge produced by memory. Hence the dual meaning of history as story and history as a sequence of facts.

History, as frequently referred to when studied at school, should be called historiography, since history is literally 'what happened to men' and not its study.

According to Anatoly Fomenko's book - New Chronology, history as we know is but a fabrication.

"Created finally in the XVI century A.D. and accepted today chronology and history of the ancient and medieval world, evidently contains big mistakes."  https://chronologia.org/en/
